Dead Birds Don't Sing
But Witching Rods Talk

The Alamo, San Antonio

Alamo 2015-2016

We handed out a box of books this weekend down at the Alamo in about 30 minutes and talked to lots of people. Had one street type person watch and swear profanities for awhile and another similar woman do the same. In fact she came over and stuck out her tongue and acted very aggressive. Pretty weird - makes you wonder...   A street preacher that I interviewed last year and talked to again this year was watching the people take our material and stop to talk. They pretty much pay no attention to him and the others at all.  The preachers stand and yell really loud as they preach against sin and warn of hell and damnation - while talking about God's love. They really think they are preaching the gospel and are pretty nice guys when you talk to them. I have told them about my experiment and given them books. Last year another pastor took offence and got into a loud and public dispute with one of the preachers while I was videoing. Then I talked to the pastor and showed him what I was doing. He then went over to the street preacher and apologized and they had prayer together.  Very interesting. Remind me to show you the video clips. I showed them at home for Sabbath School when I talked about various methods for sharing the gospel. And another time there was an atheist who was also filming and interviewing for youtube presentations...   He interviewed me too but I didn't find it on his site.  He was very nice but his purpose was to discredit Christians and show the foolishness of their beliefs. I gave him a book too and told him that it was not my purpose to be overly dogmatic - but rather to present something enjoyable that would invite discussion.  He liked that.

Sabbath Dec. 26, 2015

Went in the afternoon with a box and a half and handed them out in about 45 minutes. There were hundreds of people and many were friendly and happy to look at the book. A few who didn’t take a book came back to get one later. They probably looked at a book that someone else had. In some cases that helps; but in other cases, a story that is bible based or that mentions Jesus – might turn someone off.

When we say that the book has some spiritual stories and themes - that helps people to know that there are no tricks and that the variety of stories will leave them something to enjoy and stimulate. For the first time, a lady came back to specifically ask if the spiritual themes were bible based. She did not want spiritual new-age type material. It is more often that people do not want bible spirituality…

Flo had been killing time while waiting to check into her hotel. She was in San Antonio to attend a business convention and felt that our meeting was providential. She said that her son had left the Lord and wanted nothing religious. She was hopeful that our book format might be something that would attract his interest.

Some people were interested in alien interaction so I mentioned that they would probably enjoy the Sasquatch stories and my take on those. I told them as I often do – that while I believe that people are truly seeing something – I do not believe that they are seeing a creature that lives in the woods. The Native people of North America and other cultures recognize a spiritual, mystic connection.

One man was interested in history and that was probably one of the reasons he was visiting the Alamo. I told him about the flying serpent and the stories and artwork that Texas Indians were doing before Europeans arrived and that these stories were everywhere in the world. There is a historical connection that is fascinating and related to the serpent that flies and the cross. The Caddo Indians also had the swastika and I was told by a Hindu man – that whenever you see 4 serpents in ancient artwork – they will be in the form of a swastika. I hadn’t known that but he pointed to the Indian artwork on the back of my book and confirmed what he was saying – and from my own book.

A lot of kids took books and in only one case did a parent object.

Jan. 4, 2016

Went out again Sunday afternoon after the memorial service for Joe Garza – Carlos’ father. The service honored a man who loved God and taught his children to do the same. And then we went to the street and met so many interesting people. Again, some wanted autographs and most were friendly and polite. I notice that just about everybody immediately turns to the back cover of our book which shows how important that section is. We prayed several times before going out and had no negative experiences.

One man stands out especially. His name is Victor and he talked to Linda for a long time before coming to talk to me. He loves history and is a bird lover and has lectured at University and wrote an article on the Ivory–billed woodpecker which was thought to be extinct.

He said that his Native friends have Sasquatch stories and report that their children see them too. He believed the creature to be mythical and I briefly explained my research. He did not want me to tell him too much because he wanted to enjoy the book and find the story for himself. When I learned that he was a Christian I talked more freely and explained the flying serpent that was cursed to crawl. He got more and more interested.

He asked directly what it was that I wanted him to take from the book. I told him that I wanted to be able to look him in the eye and tell him that he would enjoy the book no matter whether he was an atheist or any religion whatsoever. And I explained the experiment with the newspaper.

I told him that many people would not accept or read a religious book but that they “would” read an interesting book that had some stimulating religious ideas interspersed in a provocative manner. I then explained the reason for the title and the history of the dowsing rod. I told him about my friend Robin who had been a witcher and prayed about it – after reading the book.

Victor talked to me for about an hour and then said that he believes things happen for a reason and that our conversation may have been by design. I mentioned the story “Not By Chance” and he told me not to tell him the outcome. He wished to enjoy the story from the book. What if our conversation and this book should result in a changed life for eternity?

I touched his shoulder and agreed with him that our meeting may not have been by chance. God has shown himself so many times throughout this project that we could have a whole book entitled “Not By Chance”.

We went out again and as soon as we got out of the car – a man left a group of people and came over to talk to us. They looked like street people and I expected that he would ask for money. He did not. Instead he shocked us with a question.

He had been impressed with the thought that we were handing out books and he had told his friends that he was going to see if he was right. We told him that we were getting ready to do just that and he smiled and looked back at his friends. He said that he lived under the bridge.

I was waiting for the money request and wondering how I would give him a donation with so many others watching and probably wanting the same. Instead, he asked many questions about our book and what it contained and we talked about spiritual themes.

The awesome thing is that we were standing beside the car and the books were still in the trunk. Our hands were empty and we had to open a box to get him a book. He was surprised that it was free.

How did he know what we were doing? He asked the questions. I wish that I had asked more. His girlfriend also came over to see what was going on. As we said goodbye, I wondered if I should offer him a donation but the timing was awkward and the question did not come up. I sincerely hope that he found the most precious gold that our Lord says all can buy from him without money.

A woman asked for a personal copy. She said that she and her husband had received a book some time before but that he would not share it with her. We have had several people request a book after seeing it or hearing about it from someone else. We have been going to the same location across from the Alamo and distributed hundreds of books. It is rewarding to see that they are having some impact.

One man was curious about the title. He had not believed in water witching but had tried a rod once and it twisted so hard that he had not been able to control it. He said that his hair had stood on end. We had a good discussion and I told him that the catchy title explained some extremely serious subjects.

One man told about his hard life but said that unlike his family and friends, he had not tried drugs and had not experienced jail. He wondered if he could write something but did not know how to type. I told him that before my book – I had forgotten how to type also.

We are down to our last box - which means that nearly 6000 books have been distributed. We twice ordered 100 “Incredible Power of Prayer” books to try something different and added stickers with the link to our website.

The first order has been inexplicably lost within the mail system even though the books were shipped from Keene, which is just a little distance away, within the same state. The tracking number shows that they went to Dallas and left Dallas before disappearing. What could have happened? Will God get them to us? Is there a story here?

We made another $150 order and all the books arrived promptly. One box came from Keene, Texas and the other arrived from Pacific Press in Idaho. The original order has been made a special matter of prayer. God knows where they are but all human means of finding them seem to have been exhausted.

Linda is trying to be more direct and tells people that she is a Christian. Recently two nice looking men came up to her and asked specifically why she was handing out this book. She nervously responded that she was a Christian and that the book had our philosophy in it. They smiled encouragingly and said, "Right on!" Since then she mentions most times to people, that we are Christians and she often refers readers to the last story in the book.

Another man, when he understood our mission, brought us back some ice water. Some people have donated money to the cause. Linda says that what is most exciting for her is that she actually "enjoys" distributing books. She says that working with God is so much fun and that she often finds herself praying or singing in her head. And thankfully, she enjoys working with me.

We went on a prayer walk and gave out several of the "Incredible Power of Prayer" books.  We told people to watch for us from week to week and invited them to check out our church and fellowship lunch. Ola said that she was sick and that the doctors were unable to find the problem. We prayed with her and said that we would check back and did similar with others.

After the prayer walk, Linda and I went to our regular spot across from the Alamo. We took some pamphlets and "Incredible Power of Prayer" books with our website stickers attached. We are running out of our experimental book (Dead Birds Don’t Sing…) but the stickers give the website where people download or read the book for free.

One man motioned for Linda to come and talk to him so she motioned for him to come to her and he did come over. He was very interested in what we were doing and told his story of success and failure before returning to the Lord. He said that he was also involved in street ministry and was curious about our methods. He wanted both books and began reading immediately and underlining. He said that he felt our meeting was by divine appointment.

Two different men returned to talk and get more information. The first man wanted to know if I had written the "Incredible Power of Prayer" book. I explained that I had not written that book but had been impacted by it and written the book referred to on the website. I explained the experimental purpose of the second book and gave examples of topics that would appeal to anybody and lead to further discussion. He became immediately intrigued and said that he was also an author.

He had very limited bible knowledge but had heard of the talking serpent that was cursed to crawl. He also knew a little bit about the story of Moses and the rod that became a serpent. He knew about water witching and became more and more interested. He liked reading his books electronically so the information was just what he wanted and he left excited to begin his adventure.

The second man had been watching us for some time and his wife had received a book. He was also an author and a psychotherapist and teacher. I assured him that he would find both books fascinating and related to his field of study. I showed him the Native artwork and talked about the winged serpent, the cross and the shared stories around the world. I gave him Joseph Campbell's take on the mystery and mentioned George Lucas and the  "Star Wars" movies, which built on the ideas of famous psychologist Carl Jung.

He was a well-dressed black man with multiple rings in his ears. He shared personal experiences with supernatural power that he did not understand. He was somewhat apprehensive of things that had happened to him in the past and wanted to know what I thought. He said that the African community knew about demonic manifestation and had various names for certain encounters.

We talked about the Eden story, the Great Flood and the Tower of Babel where the languages were confounded before the people dispersed around the world taking the same stories and knowledge in the various languages. I pointed out that the languages are different and the people in one part of the world have never heard of the people in another part of the world. Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung did not understand why the bible has such a different twist to the common themes.

To both men I explained my view that the bible deserves at least to be placed on equal footing with other great literature. Then a comparison will show that the bible is a real historical book with real people, events and places. Prophecy shows that the predicted kingdoms have come and gone and that the time for Christ's return is imminent. And the questions beg to be asked – why is it so different?  Why is the serpent the deadly enemy only in the bible? Why is the flying serpent cursed to crawl? Why is death also an enemy and the immortality teaching with the endless circle of life, a lie?

Further, the claims can be tested and God can be known and experienced. Prayer is real and fantastic. False divination will stop working; deliverance from fears and addictions will be obtained. We will have a sense of purpose. Other people's stories will become our own and the bible's uniqueness will become its blessing and delight.

I have the feeling that this is no time for complacency. The enemy is watching. While we were talking about these important issues, our box of materials suddenly blew over, spilling and scattering all the pamphlets on the street. We had to take time out to gather everything while people looked and walked around us. The man who had been reading and underlining helped us gather our materials and the psychotherapist helped also. It was distracting but we were able to get back to our important conversation. These types of things often happen at a critical moment and we do lots of praying.

In Victoria the 5th dimension man was evidently sent to spy on us for 5 hours over the course of 2 days. There have been phone calls at the most inopportune times and people who suddenly interrupt at critical moments – making it difficult to return to the subject and train of thought.

Our website has a section for people to be able to contact us. It was working fine but at some point became disabled. We did not realize that people could not contact us but wondered why we did not hear from some who had promised to email us. When we finally discovered the problem and fixed it, the messages were treated as junk-mail spam by our mail server.

The “Incredible Power of Prayer” books have been missing for 3 months now and the postal system closed the file. The Adventist Book Center tells us that it is very unusual to lose a 22-pound case of books. The tracking system has traced the box from Keene to Dallas and the box was in transit from there when it disappeared. The books were purchased for street distribution and with money that was dedicated for evangelistic purposes.

We would like a story to share about God’s interaction and we have been praying for the return of these books so that His name might be honored. A notice suddenly came though that the postal system is still looking for the books – in spite of the fact that another message announced the case closed. Linda and I will fast one meal and wait for God’s answer. The Laurel Heights Church has been stepping out and initiating new programs and praying in specific ways. This is specific - and could be part of a process for rejuvenation and revolution.

In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. 24 Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. Jn. 16:24

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Mt. 7:7

Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. 22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Mt. 21:21,22

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. Jn. 15:16      (Jn. 14:12,13 – greater things, whatever you ask, name glorified…)   (mustard seed)

And this is the confidence which we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have obtained the requests made of him. 1 Jn. 5:14,15

Last night I woke up and got to thinking about some things that have happened and decided to journal them before I forget. The process reminds me why journaling is so important. I tend to think sometimes that the stories that Roger Moreau tells and that Pavel Goia tells are beyond what happens to me but when I review my journal - I am shocked about what He has done and how I am so blind. Linda and I are in Port Aransas today - for the last time (a gift from Lisa) and enjoying a lovely and quiet Sabbath. We went for an early morning walk on the marsh flats and saw the dolphins last night. I told Linda about my thoughts on "divine appointments" and she said - "send them to Kevin".

"Divine Appointments" would be a good sermon title. Have you read this "other" story about the Shunnamite woman in the bible?

2 Kings 8Revised Standard Version (RSV)

The Shunammite Woman’s Land Restored

The lame man that Jesus left for Peter and John (presumption towel incident at Jordan River)

I must go to other towns

Ethiopian eunuch

8 Now Eli′sha had said to the woman whose son he had restored to life, “Arise, and depart with your household, and sojourn wherever you can; for the Lord has called for a famine, and it will come upon the land for seven years.” 2 So the woman arose, and did according to the word of the man of God; she went with her household and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years. 3 And at the end of the seven years, when the woman returned from the land of the Philistines, she went forth to appeal to the king for her house and her land. 4 Now the king was talking with Geha′zi the servant of the man of God, saying, “Tell me all the great things that Eli′sha has done.” 5 And while he was telling the king how Eli′sha had restored the dead to life, behold, the woman whose son he had restored to life appealed to the king for her house and her land. And Geha′zi said, “My lord, O king, here is the woman, and here is her son whom Eli′sha restored to life.” 6 And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed an official for her, saying, “Restore all that was hers, together with all the produce of the fields from the day that she left the land until now.”

And there is this familiar story:

Esther 6Revised Standard Version (RSV)

The King Honors Mordecai

6 On that night the king could not sleep; and he gave orders to bring the book of memorable deeds, the chronicles, and they were read before the king. 2 And it was found written how Mor′decai had told about Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s eunuchs, who guarded the threshold, and who had sought to lay hands upon King Ahasu-e′rus. 3 And the king said, “What honor or dignity has been bestowed on Mor′decai for this?” The king’s servants who attended him said, “Nothing has been done for him.” 4 And the king said, “Who is in the court?” Now Haman had just entered the outer court of the king’s palace to speak to the king about having Mor′decai hanged on the gallows that he had prepared for him. 5 So the king’s servants told him, “Haman is there, standing in the court.” And the king said, “Let him come in.” 6 So Haman came in, and the king said to him, “What shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honor?” And Haman said to himself, “Whom would the king delight to honor more than me?” 7 And Haman said to the king, “For the man whom the king delights to honor, 8 let royal robes be brought, which the king has worn, and the horse which the king has ridden, and on whose head a royal crown is set; 9 and let the robes and the horse be handed over to one of the king’s most noble princes; let him[a] array the man whom the king delights to honor, and let him[b] conduct the man on horseback through the open square of the city, proclaiming before him: ‘Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor.’” 10 Then the king said to Haman, “Make haste, take the robes and the horse, as you have said, and do so to Mor′decai the Jew who sits at the king’s gate. Leave out nothing that you have mentioned.” 11 So Haman took the robes and the horse, and he arrayed Mor′decai and made him ride through the open square of the city, proclaiming, “Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor.”

12 Then Mor′decai returned to the king’s gate. But Haman hurried to his house, mourning and with his head covered. 13 And Haman told his wife Zeresh and all his friends everything that had befallen him. Then his wise men and his wife Zeresh said to him, “If Mor′decai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of the Jewish people, you will not prevail against him but will surely fall before him.”

Haman’s Downfall and Mordecai’s Advancement

14 While they were yet talking with him, the king’s eunuchs arrived and brought Haman in haste to the banquet that Esther had prepared.

It was at this banquet that the tide turned again and the very gallows prepared for Mordecai were used to hang Haman...

Last summer, when we were home I was asked to have the sermon and I was nervous because I had decided to talk about how we have become so used to sin and that our members think that God accepts us anyway and we can't change and we are just like alcoholics who always must say, "My name is so and so and I am an alcoholic"  That is wrong! God heals leprosy and he heals alcoholics too.

Just before the sermon I heard some conversation that was disagreeing with what I was going to say and I was not looking forward to more love vs. obedience controversy. I gave the Scripture text to Wade Roberts and he opened his I-phone for the bible text and it was there without him turning to it. He said "Look at this - I just opened to it". We talked about how things like that had happened before. This was the sermon title and the opening text:

Setting the Captives Free

Power and Hope

(1) 2 Peter 1:3,4 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. NIV

A couple of sabbaths ago I was asked to have the children's story at the Laurel Height's church. I told about the boy kings of the bible and Samuel who did not say what Eli told him to say when the voice came in the night and what Mrs. White says about that. Then I told about Pavel's experience when 5 yrs. old. I had no idea that it was education Sabbath and that the whole sermon was on children and our responsibility etc. The Scripture text was the one about the millstone around the neck of anyone who misleads one of these little ones...

I guess things like what happens to other people do happen to us. In fact, from my notes, I now have enough for another book. There is so much more and it just goes on and gets better as our courage and faith grows. We even had a man recently come up to us and say that he had been impressed with the thought that we had some books to give out. We were getting ready to get the books from our car but had none in our hands yet. He could not have known except by something beyond the human. It is really exciting! I will stop now - and send this to you and Lisa and Linda - and get back to my journaling. We are still praying about the 100 "Incredible Power of Prayer" books that the postal system lost. They are now 4 months overdue and the case has been closed. It looks like our prayers are not going to be answered the way we would like. But someday we will find out why.  God bless, Dad.

April 27, 2016

Roatan –so poor. Taxi driver had daughter in private school with about 20 students and 2 American teachers.  Learning English.  Worked so hard to give them opportunity.

Ship reminds of Babylon.  So ostentatious.  Drinking, loud music, food, obesity, questionable entertainment, plush rooms made up twice a day, every request entertained.  Workers 7 days a week, leave home and family for 7 months. Don’t even get off at port. We are so fortunate and life is so unfair.

Ap. 28  Belize

Alvin was out with clients.  Good. We left a book and note. Hope to make contact.  Gas is expensive. 12% unemployment…   Season for them coming to an end pretty much.  Very hot.  Ship bypasses locals for tours etc. and takes pretty much everything…

Ap. 29, 2016

Our daughter arranged a cruise for all of us from Galveston to Honduras, Belize and Mexico.  For 7 days and $500 each – we have unbelievable food every and any time of the day, a fantastic bed and plush inside room (which is the cheapest) a massive mind boggling ship worth hundreds of millions of dollars that has pools, hot tubs, steam rooms, exercise rooms, a massive theater that holds hundreds of people for live shows and performances.  The ship has a high pressure “wave” for surfing, a tall wall for rock climbing, and unbelievably – it even has an ice rink and fantastic performers and times when passengers can skate.  This is on a ship that is sailing the Caribbean and right at this moment is crossing the Gulf of Mexico. We have travelled over 2000 nautical miles.

The cruise has given me a chance to kick back and do some reading. I am just finishing a book called “Adventism’s Greatest Need” the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  And I am helping to edit a book for a man who grew up with the Native people of Smith Inlet and his mother was the missionary teacher. As well, and most importantly – I literally just finished my letter to you and that is the reason for this postscript.

You will read about Alvin in one of my attachments. He was our guide last year in Belize and a former Seventh-day Adventist.  This year we took him one of our books. We only brought 2 books with us and we gave one to our room steward. He has been reading it already when he has very little time.  These people work day and night it seems and clean our rooms twice a day. For most, it is the only employment they can get and they are away from their homes for 7-9 months working 7 days a week. Can you imagine?

It is Friday evening and Sabbath has arrived.  We put a “do not disturb” slip in the door and Linda told our steward that he can have the day off from our room because this is our Sabbath. He said “You are 7th-day Adventists – I’ve been reading your book.” (We gave him a book and a tip early) Linda was just talking to him and came back to tell me the story. He is a former 7th-day Adventist also and his parents were strict Adventists.  He is from Haiti and desperate for work so he has given up and works on Sabbath like any other day – but his conscience bothers him. His boy still attends church regularly.  Linda encouraged him to take hold of God and trust Him – and she just now returned to tell me about the conversation. We only had 2 books and they both went to former 7th-day Adventists!

We learned more about Camelot. He has 2 children of his own and adopted one more after the devastating earthquake Haiti experienced a few years ago. He is working so hard in order to help his children and give them a chance for something better. Linda told him about our Pastor who is also a black man originally from Sudan. He also struggled with so many issues. Camelot originally wanted to be a Pastor. Now he works like a slave on God’s holy day that was set aside for us to rest and be refreshed in His presence.

Our minds are spinning. God is so big. Internet on the ship is expensive so I will send this to you when we arrive in port - which will be Sunday morning.

Linda was walking around the ship on deck four. One complete circle completes close to half a mile. Several times she passed a woman who was walking the opposite direction and she felt impressed to ask her to walk with her.

She did ask Susan to walk with her and they became immediate friends. She learned that Susan was trying to lose weight and had had cancer - which prevented her from having children. She goes on a cruise every year and had been doing that for 18 years. She is 40% deaf and her husband, who is a dentist, had developed a website to help people who are hearing impaired.

Deaf people can use a phone or laptop that will print words that are being actively spoken. A conversation can be followed so much better as the words pop up on the screen.

The conversation turned to religious topics and Linda gave Susan our website, since we had no more books. Linda told her to read the “Love Story” first or listen to it in audio if she wished to hear the robin singing. She promised that she would do that and that she would respond after reading the book. Then she said that she had been impressed to ask Linda to walk with her but hadn’t asked and was so glad that Linda had taken the initiative. This is so much like what happened to her and Morena – her walking partner at home.

As they made a round on the ship she heard a black man say to someone else that he didn’t drink and that his son was going to join him to read the bible. As they made another round – there he was reading his bible to his son – who was paying rapt attention. Linda said to Susan, “Look, there’s a man reading his bible.

She would have engaged the man in conversation but she was already taken up with Susan. Was this day also his Sabbath? Was he a 7th-day Adventist? We have limited time left on this ship but we will watch for him. Maybe the Lord will arrange for us to meet. God has done that before.

On our Alaska cruise Linda heard a man talking to his family about Sasquatch. We got a book and watched for him and immediately ran into him. She wanted to give a book to a friend who exercised with her and he immediately started reading the book and then ate lunch with us and asked questions about the book.

In another case she went to get a book for someone and immediately bumped into him also. I was reading Pavel’s book on miracles and had one of my own books to give to someone. I prayed that it be someone special because I only had 2 books left. Immediately a man walked up to me and said, “I feel strongly that you and I are destined to meet on this ship, on this day, at this moment.” I instantly agreed and have told the story elsewhere.

On that same cruise I got up early as the ship passed Triangle Island. In the huge viewing area on the top floor of the ship, I was the only person up. I had my last book just in case of a divine appointment. A man came and stood right beside me and actually made me uncomfortable. He said nothing. Why was he standing so close?

I told him that I was familiar with the area and that my home was not far away from this wild area. Then I told him about my book and one thing led to another. He was the man for that day.

It reminds me of the time I had prayed something similar and then nearly “blew” it. A man entered my personal space and asked so many personal questions that I became irritated and started doing the same with him. Suddenly I realized that this was the man and went to my car to get a book just for him. I have so many lessons to learn.

We only have a handful of books left and we are taking them home to have on hand – at least that was the plan. We got a motel in Salt Lake City and after worship in the morning – both Linda and I prayed that we might be open to divine appointments. Moments later we decided to get fuel but a vehicle took the pump we wanted so we turned around to get another pump on the same side as our fuel cap – and in the process – a different truck took that spot. We then turned again and backed into an available spot.

The man in the previous truck saw what happened and came over to apologize. He asked where we were from and then said that he was returning to his home in Pendleton, Washington and made several trips every month to Courtenay on Vancouver Island. What are the chances? Linda told him that we were driving to Walla Walla – just minutes from Pendleton and then on to Port Hardy on Vancouver Island. He said that he had not been to the northern end of the island, so we gave him one of our books to acquaint him with the area. Three books were given out today. Will we have any left?
